Swanwick's Flight Data Failure Closes Southern UK Airspace

14 December 2014. Computer failure influenced the air traffic over southern UK to completely closed and down, on 12 December 2014.

Passengers were facing massive flight disruption, this might be one of the worst ever in UK's aviation history.


Heathrow's Chaotic During Airspace Enclosure

The NATS (National Air Traffic Services) released a statement that flight data system at Swanwick center had technical fault and impacted to all UK's airspace system afterwards.

The spokesperson of NATS said that every possible action was being taken to assist in resolving the situation and to confirm the details after troubleshooting.

There is no official statement what is in Swanwick data center, our source says the failure came from Swanwick's flight-data computer server.

All of these affecting almost UK's flight schedule and delayed tens of flight every one hour. The government of UK said that the disruption was unacceptable and demanded a full explanation of what had gone wrong.

The flight and airspace were went to normal in the 7 pm local time.
