South Korea Buys Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk UAV
18 December 2014. Northrop Grumman has won a contract from South Korea regarding surveillance fleet of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The source said that the contract worth to USD 657 million and involving one of the biggest surveillance UAV, RQ-4 Global Hawk.
Later on, Department of Defense announced the agreement will cover provision of 4 Block 30-standard of Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk. The UAV enhanced with integrated sensor suite mission payloads and ground control environment elements.
There is no specific data about delivery date or any other support project for the agreement.
The RQ-4 Global Hawk is designed special for surveillance mission. The RQ-4 able to cover about 100,000 square kilometers in one flight mission, thanks to high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and long-range electro-optical with infrared (EO/IR) systems.
At the same time, South Korea also purchase of Heron 1 of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
