India Suspends Flying Sukhoi Su-30MKI
27 October 2014. After uncommanded ejection seat deployment incident, all of Sukhoi Su-30MKIs fleet have suspended for unknown period.
There are about 200 of Sukhoi Su-30MKIs in Indian Air Force.
Raksha Mantralaya, India's minister of defence stated that the investigation is being conducted so flying the Su-30 is not allowed or temporarily suspended.
He confirmed that at Lohegaon air base in Pune, both ejection seats of Su-30MKI was coming into the ground and had fired. The aircraft came from Indian Air Force 30 squadron.
The Sukhoi Su-30MKI has several major and minor incidents. The latest one involved the same aircraft and quite same incident. They question about Zvevda K-36D ejection seats safety.
Spokesperson of Indian Air Force says the Saturn AL-31FP, power plant of Sukhoi Su-30MKI has poor serviceability and several unsolved trouble.
In the last four years, Indian Air Force has lost about twenty military jet aircraft. Including Sukhoi, Mirage and Mikoyan-Gurevich jet aircraft.
